A Paracosm is a detailed imaginary world frequently born out of the creator’s need to escape an extended period of trauma. A rich history, detailed geography, and even language can all be hallmarks of this alternate universe. A story-space in which a new narrative can unfold.

Autumn Returns to a Town Called Memory 2024
Time can change how you see something. When I first created this painting I was thinking about how we let the spaces we inhabit decay through impartial neglect. Nothing intentional or malicious, just by a familiarity that breeds a sort of apathy that makes us miss the changes around us, until the place we thought we knew is gone.
Now, there is a new tale to tell. One where we strive to keep the memory alive of what once was. To me Autumn is the time to stop and take notice of the changes in our habitat. Whether that place be a city, suburb, or countryside. Change will happen, but the story of what has passed is always just beneath the surface in faded letters and the changing of the colors of the leaves.
Maybe that says more about where I was twelve years ago as compared to where I am today.

A Blessing for the Day
May the resiliency of Water teach me to adapt to a changing world, May the passion of Fire burn in my veins to power my intent, May cleansing zephyrs of Air clear confusion from my thoughts, May the strength of Earth sustain me on my journey. So Mote It Be.
